Good Jobs and a Strong Local Economy

Creating jobsAs a community banker for over 30 years, Fran helped farmers, students, and homeowners achieve their financial goals. While Mayor and Councilmember of Shafter, she worked to create over 2000 new local private sector jobs and helped build a first-class training center to prepare our community for good-paying jobs with a future. Her experience as president of the Shafter Chamber of Commerce and the Kern County Hispanic Chamber have helped her stay in touch with the needs of local businesses.

What the Valley Needs … Water, Water, Water

What the Valley Needs … Water, Water, WaterFran knows we need water to strengthen our agricultural economy and maintain our standing as the nation’s breadbasket. She believes we need a steady, reliable water supply to attract new businesses and diversify our economy. With the Valley’s abundant sunshine and land, we can be the renewable energy center of California.

Fran wants to protect our water from being siphoned-off by special interests in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Fran supports the statewide November water bond measure, as well as building the Temperance Dam and the Peripheral Canal.

Education is Key

EducationIn today’s world, a quality education is necessary, not optional. Our Valley schools need quality teachers, the latest equipment and technology, and classrooms that are clean, safe and well-maintained. Whether kids are going on to college or straight into the workforce, we must ensure they are prepared to face the world of work and responsibility.
