Shafter, CA - Fran Florez, current State Commissioner, former Mayor of Shafter and Democratic State Assembly candidate, announced the endorsement of the United Farm Workers Union of America (UFW) - the largest union representing farm workers in the country.

“The roots of the farm worker movement run deep in the 30th District and their mission has always been important to me since my grandparents and husband’s parents were also once farm workers. I’m humbled to have the support of such hardworking members of our community. In Sacramento, I’ll fight to keep our water from going to big cities and ensure we have the resources needed to revitalize our agricultural economy,” said Florez.

“We’re supporting Fran Florez because she is a fighter for the needs of Valley residents and farm workers alike,” said Arturo Rodriguez, President of the United Farm Workers Union of America.

The UFW is considered a key endorsement in any Democratic primary contest, particularly in the Central Valley where Cesar Chavez began his lifelong quest for justice and dignity for farm workers.
